Tween-80
Brief Introduction:
Polyethylene glycol sorbitan monooleate, also known as Polysorbate or Tween 80, is a commonly used nonionic surfactant with emulsifying, solubilizing, and decontamination effects.
Solubility:
Soluble in ethanol, vegetable oil, ethyl acetate, methanol, toluene, but insoluble in mineral oil. It becomes gelatinous at low temperatures and recovers when heated. It has a special odor and a slightly bitter taste. It is helpful for the dispersion of phthalocyanine green.
Preparation or Source:
It is produced by the reaction of sorbitan monooleate and ethylene oxide.

Applications:
1. In the Polyurethane Foam Production Industry: Used as stabilizer, emulsifier, and assistant foaming agent.
2. Textile Fiber Industry: Tween 80 can be used as an antistatic agent, used as an oil agent for nylon and viscose cords, and is an intermediate for chemical fiber oil agents.
3. Film: Used as wetting agent and dispersant in film made of photosensitive materials.
4. Oilfield Industry: Often used in oil exploration and transportation as oilfield emulsifiers, anti-wax agents, heavy oil wetting, resistance reducing agents, and near-well zone treatment agents.
5. Metal Industry: Used to prepare lubricating coolant for precision machine tools, etc.
6. Detergent Production and Metal Surface Anti-Rust Cleaning: Used as emulsifier, dispersant, stabilizer, diffusing agent, lubricant, softener, antistatic agent, antirust agent, finishing agent, viscosity reducer, etc.
7. Food Industry: Food-grade Tween 80 can be used as a food emulsifier, and can be used in candies, cakes, breads, etc.
