N,2,3-Trimethyl-2-isopropylbutamide
Brief Introduction:
N,2,3-Trimethyl-2-isopropylbutamide, the synonyms are 2-Isopropyl-N,2,3-trimethylbutyramide and 2-Isopropyl-N,2,3-trimethylbutanamide, also known as cooling agent WS-23 in the market. The melting point is between 60℃ and 63℃, the flash point is 132℃, the boiling point is 233℃, the relative density is 0.854g/cm3, the refractive index is 1.431, it is a white crystalline solid with a cool mint-like smell. As a coolant, it is mainly used in candy, oral care, and medicine.
Preparation Method:
It uses the alkylation of propionitrile and 2-bromopropane to generate the intermediate 2,3-dimethyl-2-isopropylbutyronitrile, then the intermediate and methanol are synthesized in two steps through amidation to prepare WS-23 under the condition of concentrated sulfuric acid as catalyst.
