Isopropenylboronic Acid Pinacol Ester
Brief Introduction:
Isopropenylboronic acid pinacol ester, also known as IPBC, the CAS number is: 126726-62-3, is a commonly used organic borate ester compound. It is a colourless or light yellow liquid with a weak special odour.
Solubility:
Isopropenylboronic acid pinacol ester is insoluble in water, but is soluble in a variety of organic solvents, such as ketones, esters, alcohols, etc.
Synthesis Methods:
(1) Using 2-bromopropylene as raw material, first prepare a Grignard reagent, react with trimethyl borate to generate isopropenyl boronic acid, and then react with pinacol to obtain isopropenylboronic acid pinacol ester;
(2) 2-bromopropylene and bis-boronic acid ester undergo Suzuki coupling reaction to form ester;
(3) 2-bromopropylene reacts with metallic lithium and diisopropylaminoborane to generate diisopropylaminoisopropenyl borane, which is directly reacted with diol without quenching and post-treatment. After the reaction, isopropenylboronic acid pinacol ester is obtained by vacuum distillation;
(4) Acetone and bis-boronic acid ester are reacted with copper carbene reagent to generate geminal diboration product, which is then eliminated by p-toluenesulfonic acid and then reacted with pinacol in one pot to obtain isopropenylboronic acid pinacol ester.

Applications:
Isopropenylboronic acid pinacol ester, as an important coupling auxiliary in Suzuki coupling, is used to synthesize pyrimidine ketone amide phosphodiesterase 2 inhibitors for the treatment of central nervous system disorders. Due to the special structure of isopropenyl itself, it has become an indispensable raw material in drug synthesis.
Isopropenylboronic acid pinacol ester is also used in the preparation of optoelectronic functional materials.
