Brief Introduction:

Cholesterol is a derivative of cyclopentanepolyhydrophenanthrene with the chemical formula C27H46O. It is a white or light yellow crystal.

 

Cholesterol is the main steroid compound in mammals and plays an important role in basic cellular life activities.

Solubility:

Soluble in ether, acetone, chloroform, dioxane, ethyl acetate and vegetable oil, slightly soluble in alcohol, and hardly soluble in water.

Identify A: Dissolve 10mg of sample in 1ml of chloroform, then add 1ml of sulfuric acid. In chloroform, bloody red appears, and in sulfuric acid, fluorescent green appears.
B: chloroform, add 1 ml of acetic anhydride, and then add a drop of sulfuric acid, a pink color will appear, which will soon turn into red, then blue, and finally bright green.
