Carbomer 980
Brief Introduction:
Carbomer is a high molecular polymer cross-linked with acrylic acid and allyl sucrose or allyl pentaerythritol, also known as carbopol. The product is loose white powder, acidic, hygroscopic and special slightly odorous, soluble in water, ethanol and glycerin. The molecule contains 56%~58% of carboxyl groups, therefore it is weakly acidic. When carbomer is dispersed in water, due to the repulsion between the negative charges generated by the ionization of the carboxyl group, the curly polymer stretches and expands in volume. The pH value of the 0.5% aqueous dispersion is 2.7-3.5. The 1% aqueous dispersion can be neutralized by alkaline substances to form a gel. Commonly used aqueous dispersions have a concentration of 0.1% to 3.0%.
