Brief Introduction:

Acetoacetoxyethyl Methacrylate, the CAS number is: 21282-97-3, the abbreviation is AAEM, which is a methacrylic acid monomer used to synthesize high solid liquid acrylic resins and acrylic emulsions for low VOC industrial and architectural coatings. AAEM's ability to react with amines and hydrazines makes it an ideal monomer for self-crosslinking, room temperature curing acrylic emulsions.

 

It can also be used in acetoacetic acid polymers, crosslinked by chelation with metal ions, and acetoacetic acid polymers for the production of non-fading fibers (azo dyes).

 

AAEM can be easily polymerized with acrylic acid and methacrylic acid monomers. AAEM can also be used as a coating printing adhesive, with good printing fastness, no soap fading, and no formaldehyde release.

Main Features of AAEM:

♔ Used in low VOC solvent-based coating resins to reduce their viscosity;

♔ Improve the elasticity and toughness of the coating and reduce the glass transition temperature;

♔ Excellent elasticity and corrosion resistance;

♔ Reacts with common crosslinkers such as melamine and isocyanates;

♔ It forms films at room temperature, crosslinks with isocyanates, and the enamine structure can react with aldehydes and hydrazides through Michael reaction(Michael addition reaction);

♔ The metal ions are chelated by chelation, thereby improving the adhesion to the metal layer;

♔ Excellent adhesion in wet environments.

3) Room temperature cross-linking adhesive, self-crosslinking acrylic emulsion;

6) Acetoacetate polymers;

 

7) AAEM can replace N-hydroxymethyl acrylamide, diacetone acrylamide, HEMA, etc., with better reaction control and better product performance.
